Kobo Vox USB receptacle problem

My son's Kobo Vox USB power (and data) connection works only intermittently.

With the Vox on, jiggling the adapter plug while connected to to the Vox receptacle can occasionally cause the blinking yellow light to turn green and the Vox to indicate Charging status.

The adapter appears to work; it charges other micro USB devices we have, although all of them require a lower amperage power source.

Physically the adapter cable USB plug appears a little bent, possibly due to strain from the short cable when the adapter is plugged into a wall 120V receptacle and the Vox is on the desk. The Vox receptacle may be compromised for this reason and this could be the cause.

We have not tried any other adapters at this point.

Has anyone encountered this? We're looking at returning it to the point of purchase to replace it with another Kobo Vox.

Thanks very much, Doug
