Thanks for the opinions. Exactly what I was looking for. I think I'll try Assassin's Apprentice, but I'll download it from the public library rather than spend good money on it when it appears to be an iffy possibility. They have 14(!) copies in the BC Library site, though they are all out right now. Singapore has only one. But for the BC Library, I'd have to take something off of hold.
