I happen to like the shortlist at the bottom of the home screen, and the page turns do seem to be faster overall than they were in the previous version.
I do get the super blurry text when opening the menu after long pressing a word. The long press itself makes every word on the page blocky and choppy, and sometimes the menu button brings up a dim, hard to read menu. The page refreshes properly when returning to reading though.
