Since I learned how easy it is, to access the battery on my k3. If I were to do such a thing, I would take the battery out and store it and not the entire unit. Matter of fact , I have taken my old battery 'still very good' and replaced it with one that has more capacity. My old battery now lives in my refrigerator in a vac pack, to extend 'or try to' its storage life.

Edit: I agree with the others here, do not put your kindle in the freezer, there are a very many possible nasty things that could happen to it.
