Let's get it right, just for the sake of the record...
ProctOr, being the correct spelling of the name, would be the first way people would consider writing down the name of that company. ProctOr, being, after all the fine, revered Norman surname brought to England along with a few hundred sackers and looters by my English ancestors.
ProctEr, was a misspelling that crept into the record after some distant relatives managed to get thrown out of England. (Prior to my own g'grandfather getting thrown out in the late 19th century, of course.)
These spelling impaired ProctErs settled in the Ohio Valley and started making soap from the abundant pig fat available from the local farms and founded a multi-national conglomerate.
Which just shows you that your grammar school teacher was right. If you don't learn to spell things properly, you won't amount to much of anything.
