Please help. New Kindle not working.

I am a newbie, just bought my Kindle today. I brought it home, plugged it in to my USB and turned it on. It came up fine and I went in to settings, turned the wireless on and went to register my device. I signed in, it went through most of the application, says that it is my Kindle at the top but now it has a little box that says, "Unable to start application. The selected application could not be started. Please try again." I have tried pressing the close button, turning it off, etc. Nothing is working and it hasn't moved from this page. Any help would be appreciated.
