Are you kidding me? I barely have time to read current threads in their entirety. You expect people to go back and read every post ever sent to MobileRead (how else will they know if it was important or not, since there is so much topic drift here; like right now .

Changing one's mind just by reading others' arguments is hard because we tend to gloss over points that don't fit in with our own viewpoints. Explaining our viewpoints so that others would also be convinced is where the real learning takes place.

Edit: Reading the quoted comment again, I don't see why I thought reading _all_ previous comments was indicated. In fact, I agree that reading some earlier comments is very useful. Sorry ApK, I shouldn't have gotten so preachy. I'll leave my earlier remarks as proof that this glossing over things that we read is something I certainly do. It's funny that I was right while being wrong.
