I see no easy way to reinstate an .originalepub backup as .epub.
seems to require copying the file to somewhere outside of calibre library, renaming it, deleting the calibre entry ( thus losing the metadata) then re-adding it, then re-fetch metadata.

Am I missing an easier route ?

could the whole thing be automated within a future calibre release ?

real life example. I copy epub to epub, mess with the result, decide that original was better, wish to restore from the origianlepub file, but don't want to lose the metadata stuff & don't want to confuse the calibre database.....
