I don't think it should show the title in the author line, but it will show the series. Did you accidentally include {title} in your plugboard? If you don't like anything in the author line experiment and remove items. For my 950 I also have the following:

Format: device_db
Device: PRST1
Source Template: {author_sort} {series:| - | } {series_index:05.2f}
Destination field: authors
Source Template: {author_sort} {series:| - | } {series_index:05.2f}{title}
Destination field: title_sort
