Too many of the early iPad alternatives entered the market for the wrong reasons. They saw the high premium that the iPad was selling for, and thought "I want some of that" instead of asking, "can the market support more than one tablet at that price point?"
Clearly the answer to that question is, there is only room for one tablet at that price point. But Amazon is proving that there is room for other, brand name, tablets at other price points.
Too bad for Web/OS and the Palm legacy, but HP got exactly what they deserved. They got what they unconsciously were aiming for all along, miserable failure in the tablet market.
