My Kindle Touch has excellent battery life. I read a couple of hours a day, and can get at least a month on a charge.

Pugbytes, forgive me for asking, but have you checked to see whether you have a file that has got "stuck" while indexing? This really will drain the battery very quickly indeed, and is a pretty common problem.
