Many Lithium based battery devices misreport the charge level intentionally, so the unit's 0% reading / automatic shutdown is really 10-15% of actual battery left.

I'd be surprised if any name-brand device let you actually discharge to literal zero.

People are much more likely to shorten the battery life by keeping it pinned at 100% all the time than by fully discharging.
