I always clean up my files with Calibre, and get the fonts I want in the conversion - and I am pretty sure I have not have any problems with italics or bold not showing, at least that I can tell. The FBreader version I have is with page turns - Coolreader's latest version has also got wrist page turn now.
GrayNM is still active in this forum, though I guess the easiest is to send him a private message.
