Ben won the Best Editor Hugo award six times and is a bestselling author, so he really knows what works. He dissects all the aspects of a story and includes stories in the book that he then analyzes to illustrate the points. It applies equally to novels and short stories. Even though it's got Science Fiction in the title, as he says in the intro, it applies equally well to all fiction writing. (The few parts that apply to science fiction are obvious; the rest apply to all genres.)

I highly recommend this one for anyone who wants to take their writing to the next level.
