You probably can't purchase Kindle books directly on the Sony (unless it's a Wi-Fi model and you use any web browser function to order them from the Amazon site).
But if you have a google for the words "apprentice" and "alf", then you can have a look at the fairly simple steps required to move Kindle books to an ePub reader and vice versa and see if it's something you wouldn't mind doing on a regular basis.
