Some people don't carry objects with them all the time. Instead, they have another one of whatever it is wherever they are likely to need one. Hence there is a pair of scissors on my desk, another on my wife's desk, yet another pair in the bathroom, a pair in one of the kitchen drawers, another pair in the bedroom with my wife's craft stuff, and one more pair in the first aid kit. We never have trouble finding the scissors because they never walk off. There is a pair where they are needed, thus seldom a need to take them elsewhere.
While we haven't just run out and bought an ereader for every place we might sit and read, we keep all our old ones when we upgrade and are working towards having a reader handy wherever we might be in the house.
