I'm less bothered by a mistake here and there than by "logic" fails. So it's one thing to refer to Spain's President (rather than King) but it's another to have a character do something totally illogical -- such as have the elevator blow up and then not know how to get back to the third floor. So the character then does something ridiculous like a spell or climbs the wall...when there is no mention of a simple device called a STAIRCASE. It's especially erroneous if the character has used the staircase in the past in the building in the same book.
But numerous errors in one book of any kind will irritate me especially if it is common knowledge (kings versus presidents.) I'm probably a lot more patient with that sort of thing than I used to be, but I'm also more likely to look things up because of the internet.
