Thanks Kovid. I'll stick with 0.8.12 for now, and if I see a change in the ChangeLog that I think would be useful I'll have another shot at tracking this down, perhaps doing binary chop / bzr bisect between 0.8.12 and 0.8.30. If that fails I might put together a calibre-bin ebuild -- unless someone else has already done so? I can only see this unanswered forum post from April 2010.

Excellent piece of kit, thanks for all your work on it.
