Amazon and Audible "merge"

I accidentally merged Amazon and my audible account when I got an audiobook for the Kindle at amazon.com. Suddenly, my archive is inundated with over 400 audible book titles, most of which I have already listened to. And there is no way to delete them from the Kindle archives. I sure don't want to go thru 400 plus titles to find a book I want to "read", and the merge reset all my audible preferences from itunes download for my ipod to the format used for Kindle. I asked Audible to disconnect my accounts, but it takes a while to accomplish that. And no one knows for sure what gets permanently deleted at Audible if you reset the Kindle to factory defaults, since all but one of the ebooks were not purchased at Amazon. Confusing, to be polite.

So if you don't really want to use the Kindle for your audiobooks, DON'T have amazon.com be your new signon for any existing Audible account. You can download the audible books individually from audible.com. Much, much less confusing, and easier to deal with.
