The proxy settings show up fine --- same as what I have specified inside IE. Also, when I navigate to http://www.amazon.com/s/?sort=releva...8&unfiltered=1 from IE, it works. Somehow, it doesn't seem to work from within calibre, and python's error message doesn't seem complete --- the URLError is followed by nothing...

Could there be a problem with the proxy blocking calibre or some such thing? In any case, shouldn't python give a more informative error?
