Thousands of hours??? Only if they make the LED so dim that it is practically useless.

AAA battery is rated at around 800 to 1200 mAh; i.e. should last 4 to 5 times that of the coin CR 2032 batteries. Sony's cover uses 3 LEDs and the AAA batteries would last 19 hours. So Gecko cover uses 1 instead of 3 LEDs, and its batteries last 1/4 to 1/5 of that of AAA, my estimate is that it should probably last 11 to 15 hours.
