I think if I had to recommend a "budget" eReader to people [and seeing as 'tis the season, I've had to do this a lot over the last month] I'd recommend the "budget" Kindle. Personally I wouldn't trade in my Kindle Keyboard for it, but I do tend to highlight / make notes a fair bit, so for me the Keyboard is quite useful. [I'd like to recommend the Kobo to people, but every book I've checked has been cheaper - in some cases, significantly, on Amazon. ]
