Leaving wifi on is an obvious power drainer but I would at least expect to have my kindle synchronized when it is asleep which is not happening. If that is how it is supposed to work (which is the question of this thread) then what you are doing is the most obvious thing to do and I will start doing it too. Leaving the wireless connection on would be completely useless.

update: I've seen from the amazon website that when I push books on my kindle while it is asleep I get a message stating that the book will be available to me the next time I switch on the kindle and activate the wireless connection. So maybe putting it to sleep really inhibits wifi and whistlernet after all but I would like some feedback about this.
