As a ships engineer, I spot quite a few technical errors and plain old S.T.U.P.I.D events.
Matthew Reilly "destroyed" a good plot when he made a whole plant blow up due to KFK gases. KFK does not burn or explode. In fact it is one of the most effective fire depressants that exists. (Halon fire extinguisher, anyone?).
Speed II anyone?
I've never been so embarrassed while watching a movie. There are so many idiotic errors and so many stupid ridiculous details that I don't know where to begin.
You cannot override mechanical shutdowns via computer.
You cannot "hack in to" a ships operational system or software via "internet".
You cannot take the elevator down into a ballast tank.
Ballast tanks does not contain light fixtures.
Ballast tanks does not contain laundry.
You cannot hang one-armed by the propeller shaft in 25 knots and "nudge" a rope into the propeller.
You cannot turn a 25-knot speeding ship by the side thruster.
You D.E.F.I.N.A.T.E.L.Y cannot "handcrank" a side thruster.
Cylinder heads will not pop off an engine and still have the engine run at full power.
Cylinder hedas will not pop off, the piston will come out of the side loooong before that.
(Besides, stopping an engine is only a 19mm wrench away to dismantle the fuel line).
And so on and so forth..
