I think that the main potential problem with the dxg hinges cracking the dxg case was caused by people trying to open the wrong (back) cover side first. Amazon addressed this problem by modifying it to include an elastic strap (like the K3) so you definitely know which is the front side, even though the original magnetic cover (which I use, no problems btw) already had a nice silver logo plate to help remind you.

This was all done to try to make it a little more 'idiot-proof' imho.

Even with this newer cover you can still damage your dxg case by purposely opening up the rear cover too much. For this reason I'd strongly recommend you do not continue to jam a clipon light between the rear cover and the dxg case. I suggest you just fold it over and use the clipon onto the front cover.

All these Amazon dxg (and k3) covers are designed to be used folded over. I find it pretty hard to understand why anyone would want to use them otherwise.

Like you say, it's pretty hard to go back to a 6 inch once you've tried a 9.7 inch, lol!
