What are the restrictions that keep developers from making a universal eBook converter? I think it'd be a great boon for consumers as well as eBook sellers as everyone could buy any book from any store for use with any eBook reader (hardware/software) and just convert it from one format to another as needed.
I'm sure there are several legal reasons and restrictions that would prevent this. It's too good of an idea for me to be the first to think of it.
