I bought a pair just a month ago and was money well spent, in my opinion.

I wear hearing aids and my hearing loss is severe in my right ear. My hearing loss is also worse for high frequency sound. I have a the Bose Quiet Comfort 15s and wear them without my hearing aids. They are the best money I ever spent. I'm back to being able to really enjoy music after years of not being able to bear being around it because it was like listening to a lot of indistinct jumbed mess unless it was turned so high no one else could stand it. I love watching PBS Masterpiece/BBC programs on the Fire because I can actually understand what is being said. Even with very expensive hearing aids, I have to use closed captioning to watch TV because there are so many words I can't understand, I lose the context of the conversations, both for BBC productions and all American television programing. Except for those damn commercials.
Between the Bose headphones and the Fire, the ability ability to watch and enjoy so many quality TV productions I've missed over the years is so gratifying.
And I would recommend the headphones and not the Bose docking station if you have i-stuff. I've used one with my phone and Nano to listen to music, both with and without my hearing aids, and the quality of what I can hear is dramatically different. I don't believe it is the Bose docking system, though. Too much other external noise is amplified through the hearing aids but without them I lose too much unless I turn the thing way up. Then the dogs howl and the family protests.
I found the learning curve for the Fire was lengthy compared to how long it took me to learn how to use the i-Phone, but I also feel it was worth the time invested. I had seriously considered returning the Fire because I was so unhappy with the performance, but the 6.2 update took care of my issues. I'm now waiting for the update that will clean up the Kindle reading experience and kill that carousel. Then I'll be a
super happy camper.
