I get the "Cannot download news as no internet connection is active" error every time that Calibre is running and my laptop comes out of sleep mode. Calibre is just too quick to try to download news even if the laptop has not yet established a WiFi connection. It could even be a fraction of a second too quick.
It'd be fine if Calibre didn't make this a modal dialog error and just silently retried the download a little while later.
