Metadata issue with 0.8.30 on OS X

Hi.

I've just upgraded to v0.8.30 on OS X Lion, and am finding that when I select a book in Calibre, there is no metadata (comments, tags &c) shown alongside / beneath the cover (spending on whether I'm displaying wide or narrow).

The metadata information is there, as I can select it and paste it into another application without difficulty.

I also see that if I open an individual metadata dialog, I can only see the comments there if I select HTML Source; Normal view shows nothing (although the text is selectable).

It is more than likely that I have done something daft, and hope that someone will be kind enough to point me in the direction of the option I need to change.

On another note, I'm finding an increasing number of symbols appearing in web-sourced metadata. Is there an option to correct this?

Thanks for an exceptional piece of software,

Darren
