You don't connect them.
That indication say they are 2 different versions.
You may have deleted/merged a 'duplicate' in the library. The device has the deleted one fingerprints (no match).
You could delete the one on the device and resend the Library copy.
You will lose any bookmarks or annotations.

Another possibility is there is ONLY a OPF file on the device (calibre does not delete those when deleting a book). The Quality check plugin can clear those strays.
