Ideas? epub to mobi - a bit of reg para spacing -vs.- list single space

To get the mobi's I want from my epubs I find that a conversion using "Remove spacing between paragraphs" AND "Insert blank line between paragraphs (of .5 em) gives me exactly what I want with spacing between my regular text paragraphs.

But I sometimes have a list or other material where I want no spacing between the lines (paragraphs). The conversion, of course, set these lists like all other paragraphs with the .5 em between them.

I know I really probably need a mobi editor, but I was wondering if anyone had found a "trick" to do this without editing the mobi. Possibly in the way the epub is coded or some "conversion" trick.

I've tried "line breaks" in the epub instead of returns, but then overflow doesn't set right on the list lines when they break (in either epub or converted mobi).

Any ideas? (Or the easiest way to edit the mobi.)
