So I got the sleep of death. Question is, did it happen while my unit was off or did I accidentally leave it on and it went to deathsleep. I always power off when I'm not using it. I may have left it on accidentally but I'm not 100% convinced I did.
I will be more vigilant going forward so I can be 100% certain. If it went into deathsleep from off....well that's just wrong.

Hey all, I tried out some new settings and so far no further problems with the death sleep.
First, I unplugged the battery and re-connected (just for kicks)
I made sure to kill all non-essential apps with an app-killer.
I set my wifi to never sleep when plugged in (not an issue for me since I generally have it plugged in when not in use)
I make sure to sleep only from the home screen.
I let my unit sleep for 1 hr, 3 hrs both with no problems. Then I put it to sleep overnight before bed around 11:00 pm and left it until I got home from work today - around 6:00pm and no problems waking up (aprox 17 hrs).
since wifi seems to be the cause according to the majority of threads, I'm going to try exactly the same procedure tonight but with wifi off and unplugged to see what shakes out.
