What do you mean by the expression "with rule of the shorter term", Greg? Please do correct me if I'm wrong, but the "expiring" copyright that was in force in the United Stated prior to the late 1960s ONLY applies to the US, does it not? I'm pretty certain that none of this stuff is in the public domain in the UK, for example.
