ah - I did not think of checking windows file name - I looked all thru the epub structure for where a truncated title might have been stored.

I guess I need to hop over to calibre forum but I don't think calibre will let me change the file name.

I suppose for new books I can fix the file name before importing into calibre but for existing files like these where I've already done many edits, its trickier.

I suppose save to disc, delete from calibre library, edit file name - add book to calibre would work.

but would it not be better (future) design to use the epub title & author fields, not the windows file name. that is what ADE does if I open the book in ADE.
