What format are the books? What is the source of the books?
First, if the books are from a major bookseller (Amazon, B&N, Kobo, Sony, etc.) they undoubtedly have DRM linking them to either one or the other of your Kindles, or to the PC itself. You'll need to remove that DRM before the books will be usable on both of your Kindles. (Google Apprentice Alf)
Next, depending on the format, once you have the DRM removed, you'll also need to convert the books to a Kindle friendly format. If you bought the books from Amazon, or from a source that has .Mobi format books, this has already been taken care of.
Finally, once you have DRM free copies in a format Kindle understands, you copy them via USB to the Documents folder of the Kindle.
This whole process is greatly simplified if you're using Calibre to manage your books. AND you have the DRM tools from the site I mentioned.
