Tell that to my phone, the bathroom mirror, my iPod, and my glasses.
. You need a streak free cloth and a cleaner at the least, and whatever coatinsg you apply to glass to remove glare can retain oils quite well. Or even on its own, without oleophobic coatings. That's why Apple coats their iPhone (but not iPod) screens - not just to add $30 to the cost.
Also, glass scratches like nothing else, especially with all the debris wind carries being at least as hard as it.
