There are not that many ecosystems to choose from.
There's iBooks and Apple. Not good for anyone living on Earth.
There is B&N with it's own DRM for ePub. Not too bad if you can strip the DRM and live in the US. Otherwise, no good.
There is Amazon and it's own DRM for Mobipocket. KF8 is coming, but we don't know if Amazon will allow it on the K3/KK. Until it can be stripped/converted to ePub, it's a locked system.
And finally there is ePub with Adobe Adept DRM.
That's it. There are no more.
