It's not weird, although I'd not say it's much more money. The shrinking of the re-sale market is a lamentable aspect of the rise of e-books. I've bought some real gems through abebooks. As the years go on, second-hand inventory will decrease. The downward pressure it exerts on new-book prices will also decrease.
