Please post at least part of the ePUB instead of just some CSS code. It will help. You might try using <span></span> around the text. So: <p><span>your paragraph.</span></p>. I heard iBooks is stupid enough to actually do something then. Personally when I come across this I would remove the <span> since it does nothing....
