Exclamation Problems with calibre 0.4.56 on Mac OS X 10.4.11

Just downloaded the new 0.4.56 version of Calibre and it fails to start. Nothing has changed since I used 0.4.53, and here's the output of the console:

Fatal Python error: Interpreter not initialized (version mismatch?)

Here's what I get when I type in python from the terminal:

BURROW:~ family$ python
Python 2.5 (r25:51918, Sep 19 2006, 08:49:13)
[GCC 4.0.1 (Apple Computer, Inc. build 5341)] on darwin
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
>>>

Anyone else have the same problem? If I put 0.4.53 back on it starts up fine.
