Just to be pickey, "3G" is NOT a standard. It just stands for third generation. Basically because it follows second generation devices and protocols.
Some 3G protocols are:
- Universal Mobile Telecommunication Service (UMTS)
- Wideband Code-Division Multiple Access (WCDMA)
- High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA)
- Evolution Data Maximized (EVDO)
