Jayd31, I don't know why special offers would have been enabled like that, but you may be able to disable the ads yourself. It's easy:
  • Click on "Your Account" (upper right on screen at Amazon's website)
  • Click on "Manage Your Kindle" (located in the Digital Management section)
  • Click on "Manage Your Devices"
  • You will see your Kindle listed there. If it says "Subscribed," then click on "edit" and you can unsubscribe there.
I'm not sure which Kindle you have. My no-ad K3 Kindle Keyboard 3G updated to 3.3 a month or two ago, and this didn't happen to me. But 1-2 weeks ago, Amazon made it so that we can opt-in to the special offer ads if we want to. Maybe that's why it activated automatically for you with the update—I don't know.
