Amazon did that to me when I ordered a motherboard last year.
For
FOUR DAYS it said that it was in stock and my account said "Shipping Soon". On the fourth day I canceled the order and got what I needed from Newegg.
That turned out to be a blessing as what I ordered from Newegg was a far better system with a much better motherboard.
About a week ago I learned another lesson from Amazon. On many items you can get free shipping if it's over $25. Some items under $25 can get free shipping if they are bundled with other "free shipping" items totaling $25+
and sent in one package.
The lesson? Don't add trivial items to an important order. What I think happened was that in order to send my order in one package they had item #2 sent to the warehouse where item #1 was. Only THEN did they ship the two items to me. It took eleven days to receive two items listed as "in stock".
So just because it says that ten items are in stock, it doesn't mean that all the items are in one location.
