Got the Iliad Book Edition
I got my Iliad Book Edition today. I'm a bit ambivalent about it to be honest. It certainly didn't have the wow factor that the Sony Reader had when I first saw it. That'll be a function of having used a Sony for a year [1] I expect. I'm used to eInk displays now. The screen on the PRS-505 is better. Interestingly the Iliad screen has looked best so far under the fluorescent lights when I was in the office this afternoon. I stuck a Sandisk 4GB CF card in it and set it to be the default location for all content.
I've been experimenting with the best way to use it to read A4 PDF's as this is what I bought it for. So far I think the way that'll work best is in continuous mode and zoomed in to get rid of the margins.
I think the note taking functionality will be one of the things I use the most. I'll try and get one of the Wacom AT Cross Executive pens when I'm in San Francisco in a few weeks.
I'll have to see how it performs over the next few weeks. It'll not be replacing the Sony PRS-505 for reading fiction.
