Lookout likely would have scanned anything before allowing it to install. I've seen it do that with other apps I've installed. But I don't think Lookout is as aggressive as PC antivirus programs.
With Windows, in prior times one used to be told to turn off the AV before installing, but it seems most software doesn't require that anymore and I very seldom turn off my AV to install software. I got used to that, it never occurred to me to turn off Lookout on the Vox. Actually, uninstalling it temporarily would have been easier than all the *rap I've had to go through today, and today I actually did uninstall and reinstall just to see if that was the problem.
I stand by my following the instructions otherwise, though, which, BTW, did not include turning off any antimalware. I didn't force the update, I got a prompt. Battery was up to full. I put the Vox down and walked away and didn't touch anything while the update was happening. The Vox restarts itself as needed during the process.
Yes, I see from another thread that doing a factory reset has not helped at least one other person.
Is there a power management app somewhere a person could try?
Waiting to hear from our local Kobo guy who did ask us to post issues to this thread. I guess he's taking the weekend off.
Just so ya know, I did
not sign up to be a beta tester.
