Someone over at the Transformer Forums summed up the inadequacy of the freehand annotation quite well...

Not talking about annotations. I'm talking about hand writing straight into the pdf page itself. I'm an old fashion guy. In my old paperback books, I'd take notes by directly writing onto the pages. I'd like to be able to do the same with my pdf files. Those annotations are annoying because you have to click on them to read. I want to be able to view the page and read my hand written notes.
