I suspect the theory is that most Black Friday shoppers are buying presents for family members, friends -- basically, other people. Pbooks and ereaders can be given as presents, but most ebooks are supposed to be restricted to the person who bought them -- ruling out the the idea of buying them as presents.

Anyway, that's just my take on it.
