Yes, I think is better, you'll get the best of the two worlds. iPad and Kindle is a very popular combo here in mobileread.

There are a lot of options for eink devices but Kindle is probably the best for engineers because Amazon's computer books selection, plus I think Kindle for iOs is a more mature and better app than its Android counterpart.
