wdi,

In your case, I don't think that the ship date of November 17 was unreasonable on Amazon's part. They just started shipping the Kindle Touches on November 15 (which was 6 days earlier than their original start-ship date of November 21), and they had millions of orders to process. Your October 1 and October 2 orders weren't as early as those who pre-ordered right after the devices were announced on September 28.

I do think that the estimated delivery date of November 28 is ridiculous, though. That's 11 days after they shipped your Kindles! I suspect that they may have overestimated the transit time and you'll get it sooner. They do that with USPS packages sometimes. That's why I asked which carrier Amazon used. At least with UPS, you have some idea where the package is at any given point, and their actual delivery date generally matches what they state on their tracking site.

I've always had outstanding results with Amazon's customer service. Their call-back phone option has worked best for me. Just last week they sent me a replacement for my Kindle that I've had for a year. No hassle, and they sent it via two-day shipping. I always get their free Super Saver shipping, and I've never had a package take 11 days to arrive.

Anyway...I hope you are happy with the devices. And welcome to MobileRead! This forum really is a wonderful place to learn and share information, so I hope you'll stick around.
