Don't hold your breath. That WAS just a rumour. In fact, Amazon has already announced their own, new proprietary format (KF8) that seems as if it will be their answer to an ePub3-
like format... but it won't BE ePub3.
I suspect Amazon will support ePub on the day they successfully
eliminate the ePub format as a viable alternative.
(Before anybody gets excited—No, I don't
expect that to happen... nor would I even
want that to happen. Just being realistic about under what circumstances Amazon would consider supporting the ePub format on their devices. And the answer is; "under no circumstances"... unless the format is no longer a threat to their plans of market dominance. KF8 has made that very clear.)
